Gunshots or Fireworks???
It really amused me what happened last week, I was at my neighbour's and we were listening to some music sitting quietly and then we heard some very noisy shots. Every one of us tought that it's gunshots and it was coming from extremely short distance, so we all tought our compound is under attack from the sea side and to protect ourselves from gunshots! we all run to the stairs behind the wall and started screaming. After a couple of minutes we realized that they actually were fireworks coming from a club close to our place. Under normal circumstances one would think that this attitude was paranoid but it's not, it's actually safety alerted:-) as we hear gunshots quite often usually coming from embassy district which is right accross the river. Anyway, it was really funny when we found out about the fireworks and we laughed a lot about us screaming and running in panic:-)))
14/08/2004 - 01/02/2006 in memoriam...
I will never forget your beautiful smile, your love for orange juice, your beautiful first teeth and the way you crowled towards me every morning when I stepped inside the orphanage.
You are the sunshine of my life, you will allways be my first baby. I miss you very very much, especially at the orphanage, the place is empty without you but I know you are in a much better place now, I saw your uncle Solomon today, he signed your book (I put a memorial with your pictures), Dr. Onyeji is very sad as well, we had a chat, what's left from your fund we will donate to an NGO for children with diseases. Sheriff I love you, I allways will as the flame inside me will allways be there. Iya Sheriff.

LAGOS...Now that I remember how excited I was in April 2005 weeks before arriving in the chaos of Lagos, an opportunity to breath and experience Africa, I couldn't know that it really was ''the true and cruel face'' of Africa. I'll soon complete one year, a year full of cultural discoveries, new people, my baby orphans, tears and loneliness but happiness and joy as well. There is so much to write about my experiences here but I'll just wait for the right moment.
